Maa Sharda Devi Temple, located in Maihar, Madhya Pradesh, is one of the most sacred Shakti Peethas in India and a major center of devotion for Goddess Sharda, an incarnation of Maa Saraswati. Perched on the Trikuta hill at an altitude of around 600 feet, the temple is reached by climbing 1,063 steps or via a ropeway service, offering devotees a convenient way to seek darshan.

The temple has immense spiritual significance and attracts thousands of devotees throughout the year, especially during Navratri, when grand celebrations and rituals are organized. According to legends, the name Maihar (meaning “Mother’s necklace”) originates from the belief that when Goddess Sati immolated herself, her necklace fell at this very place.

The idol of Maa Sharda, adorned with ornaments and flowers, radiates divine grace and is worshipped as the bestower of wisdom, learning, and spiritual power. Besides being a pilgrimage destination, Maa Sharda Devi Temple also offers breathtaking views of the surrounding town and forests from the hilltop, making it both a spiritual and scenic experience.
