Kedarnath Mandir - Uttarakhand

Kedarnath Mandir, located in the Himalayan ranges of Uttarakhand at an altitude of 3,583 meters above sea level, is one of the most sacred temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Part of the Char Dham Yatra and one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, Kedarnath holds immense spiritual significance for devotees across India and the world.

Believed to have been originally built by the Pandavas and later revived by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century, the temple showcases ancient stone architecture, with its simple yet powerful design reflecting the timeless devotion of its followers. Surrounded by majestic snow-capped peaks and the flowing Mandakini River, the temple offers a serene and awe-inspiring spiritual experience.

Kedarnath is especially vibrant during Maha Shivaratri and the summer pilgrimage season (from April/May to October/November), when thousands of devotees undertake the trek to seek the blessings of Lord Shiva. Due to its high-altitude location, the temple remains closed during winter, as heavy snowfall makes the region inaccessible.
