Antim Kriya (अंतिम क्रिया)

Antim Kriya is an important Hindu ritual performed after the death of a person. Its primary purpose is to ensure the peace of the departed soul and help it attain moksha (liberation). This ritual is conducted according to traditional customs and Vedic guidelines.

The Antim Kriya typically includes:

• Bathing the body and dressing it in clean clothes.

• Adorning the body with sacred items like tulsi leaves and holy water (Gangaajal).

• Last viewing (darshan) by family and loved ones.

• Carrying the body to the cremation ground (shmashan) and performing the cremation.

• The mukhagni (lighting of the funeral pyre), usually done by the eldest son or closest relative.

• Ash immersion and performing post-cremation rituals such as pind-daan and shraddha.

According to Hindu beliefs, Antim Kriya guides the soul on its journey to the next realm and also provides emotional and spiritual closure for the living family members.

अंतिम क्रिया हिंदू धर्म का एक महत्वपूर्ण संस्कार है, जिसे किसी व्यक्ति के देहावसान (मृत्यु) के बाद संपन्न किया जाता है। इसका उद्देश्य मृत आत्मा की शांति और मोक्ष की प्राप्ति कराना है। यह संस्कार परंपरागत रीति-रिवाजों और वेदों में वर्णित विधियों के अनुसार किया जाता है।

अंतिम क्रिया में आमतौर पर निम्न अनुष्ठान शामिल होते हैं:

• शव को स्नान कराकर स्वच्छ वस्त्र पहनाना।

• तुलसी दल, गंगाजल और पवित्र वस्त्रों के साथ सज्जित करना।

• परिवारजनों और प्रियजनों द्वारा अंतिम दर्शन।

• शवयात्रा के बाद श्मशान घाट पर ले जाकर अग्नि संस्कार करना।

• मुखाग्नि (अधिकतर ज्येष्ठ पुत्र या निकट संबंधी द्वारा दी जाती है)।

• भस्म विसर्जन और बाद में पिंडदान एवं श्राद्ध कर्म।

हिंदू मान्यताओं के अनुसार, अंतिम क्रिया आत्मा को अगले लोक की यात्रा के लिए मार्ग प्रदान करती है और जीवित परिजनों को भी मानसिक व आध्यात्मिक संतुलन देती है।
